November 1, 2002 - Quikrete settles wrongful death lawsuit

Concrete manufacturer Quikrete settled a wrongful death lawsuit filed by a woman whose husband's car exploded in flames after being struck by a company truck that allegedly had faulty brakes.The settlement for an undisclosed amount was reached Wednesday, two days after the trial began in Superior Court, Browne Greene, the attorney for plaintiff Christine Peterson, said Thursday.

Peterson alleged that on June 8, 2001, a Quikrete rig jackknifed on the 101 Hollywood Freeway and crashed into a Honda Accord driven by her husband, Christopher.Peterson alleged the force of the crash pushed her husband's car into the freeway divider and pinned him in the vehicle, which erupted into flames. He died at the scene.

John Tasker, the attorney for Quikrete and the other defendants, True Cast Concrete Products, Gibbel Brothers Inc. and truck driver Egriseldo Hernandez, said his clients never denied liability
